>>天下第一关
 “天下第一关”即举世闻名的历史古城山海关。雄关紧扼要隘，成为华北通往东北要冲。古人称为“两京锁钥无双地，万里长城第一关。”确也当之无愧。这里位置优越，形势险要，文物众多，气候宜人，风光绚丽，又是旅游者向往的游览胜地。
山海关之所以被誉为“天下第一关”，一是从地理位置上，为万里长城东部起点的第一座关隘；再就从地理形势上，依山襟海，雄关锁隘，易守难攻贡。长城东部起点的山海关，成为明清以来特别是近代史上“关”的代表称号了。
在高山大海相距7.5公里之间，长城纵贯南北，山海关城紧扼隘口。并且东有峻岭是一道天然屏障西的石河，成为一条自然壕堑，从而构成名副其实的战略要地。
天下第一关是山海关的东门，又名“镇东楼”。其规格，据《临榆县志》载：“东门建楼，高三丈，凡二层，上层高五丈，下层六丈，深各半之。有额日天下第一关额为明肖剑事显书。”
天下第一关城楼，实乃箭楼格式。经实测：城台高12米，城楼高13米，楼之东西宽10.1米，南北长19.7米。楼分两层，第一层高5.7米，第二层高8米（包括吻脊）。城楼建筑，上为歇山重檐顶，顶脊双吻对称，下为砖木结构，四角飞檐上，饰以形态各异的脊兽，造型美观，栩栩如生。城楼上下内外，共悬挂着三块木质白地黑字“天下第一关”匾额：楼内一层为原匾，二楼内为清光绪五年王治清钩摹燕塞湖重刻，二楼内为民国九年杨宝清钩摹另刻。
“天下第一关”匾额，长5米多，高1.5米，每个字都一米有余。字为楷书，笔力苍劲浑厚，与城楼风格浑然一体，堪称古今巨作。
登上第一关城楼，南望渤海，烟波浩渺，北跳长城，壁垒森严，大有身临古战场之感。“天下第一关”城楼左右的四座建筑物，靖边楼、牧营楼、临闾楼、威远堂。
>>长城起点——老龙头
 老龙头是明长城的东起点。之所以把这里称为“老龙头”是因为人们把万里长城比作一条巨龙，这条龙走过大漠，攀贺兰、越太行，自燕山而下，向渤海飞驰，在辽西走廊上挽了个结，竖起了山海雄关，随之引颈入海，这入海的部分便是老龙头了。老龙头是万里长城的重要组成部分，它与城北的角山长城，城东的威远城构成犄角之势，拱卫着山海关城。从明初洪武年间到明末崇祯年间的260余年中，老龙头不断修建，逐步完善。直至清代长城内外成为一统，老龙头从此失去了军事防御的作用，成为帝王将相、文人墨客观光览胜的佳境。自清朝开国后，康熙、雍正、乾隆、嘉庆、道光都多次到过老龙头，其中乾隆皇帝4次来此登楼观海，留下了大量诗文墨宝。老龙头上的“天开海岳”碑，据传为唐代遗碑，这四个字道出了“放眼天际，苍茫一碧，天适地设”的绝妙景观之神韵。
老龙头是“中国旅游胜地40佳”之一。登上老龙头，面对波涛汹涌、云水苍茫的大海，您可以尽览“长城万里跨龙头，纵目凭高更上楼，大风吹日云奔合，巨浪排空雪怒浮”的壮观美景，产生无穷的遐想。
>>角山长城
 系燕山余脉，是关城北山峦屏障的最高峰，海拔519米。其峰为大平顶，平广可坐数百人，有巨石嵯峨，好似龙首戴角，故名。角山景点，主要有角山长城、敌台、角山寺、瑞莲捧日。角山是万里长城从老龙头起，越山海关，向北跨越的第一座山峰，所以人们又称它为“万里长城第一山”。
角山长城建于明洪武初年，从山脚旱门关到大平顶共1536延长米。城墙大部分就地取材，毛石砌筑，局部为城砖和长条石砌垒，角山长城的高度和宽度，有明显的随山就势特点。这里长城高度一般为7～10米,宽度平均4～5米。在山势陡峭之处，也有利用山崖砌筑的，可窄到2.7米宽。这些墙段，外侧十分险峻，难于进攻；内侧又十分低矮，便于登墙作战。角山形势险要，角山长城也险峻异常，这里的长城，或低缓蜿蜒，或直入云天，远望如带倒挂山峦，实为壮观。古诗云："自古尽道关城险，天险要隘在角山，长城倒挂高峰上，俯瞰关城在眼前。

 据《史记·秦始皇本纪》记载，秦始皇于公元前215年东巡碣石---秦皇岛，并在此拜海，先后派卢生、侯公、韩终等两批方士携童男童女如海求仙，寻求长生不老药。明宪宗成化13年，立“秦皇求仙入海处”石碑一座，以纪胜景。秦皇岛，古属碣石地域，因秦始皇东巡驻跸于此而得名。
